my daughter's teacher came for a visit

Today was a good day, after I did hours of nervous cleaning this morning, when everything, was already clean.   Our daughter's teacher came to meet her today at the house. She loved her, and was such a show off... showing her how she could write her name, spell/write certain words.. When her teacher left the house, she opened the door and yelled,"I love you Mrs. _______!" It was too sweet!! I hope the rest of the year goes pretty well. That's all to blog for today. -Amy

I'm in love../Texarkana trip..

I met my nephew today, who was born, at 3:09a.m. He is the sweetest thing in the world. There is something that makes a person feel better, when they hold such a fresh life! He weighed 8 pounds on the dot. Mommy and baby are doing great! Such a blessing.   I got to hold him, one armed today, even though my sick arm, can't feel much it jumped and it tried to feel his feet.   I drove the 200 mile one way trip to Texarkana, no problem.... On our way, back home, daughter and I sto

Men Bikinis..........:)

Okay, I guess I am hard up on blogs.... but Howie on Big Brother spawned my idea of buying my hubby men bikinis. I had no idea, that they actually made them!!!!!! I bought him a package of 5 today and put them in his underwear drawer. He has the body for them, so why not wear them for your wife? unless, you may get ridiculed from the guys, if they see them on you.Let's hope hubby doesn't get bored at work tonight, and check out my blogs again:) . I'm not publishing it in a local paper.

We forgot our own wedding anniversary....

This is the funniest situation that could have happened, my hubby and I forgot our own, wedding anniversary today until 5:00 p.m. I was looking through my purse, at mail for our DD ENT appt., and asked him, what today was, and he said,"I think the 8th.." I looked at him and said,"the what??? (big eyed). WE both looked at each other like oh sh#&! . At least we both forgot!! I laughed and laughed, until I couldn't anymore.   It is only our 7th, and we are already forgetting. WE

The car is in the shop!

My hubby tinkered around with the car, and we bit the bullet and took it to a professional. I am sure it will be something outragiously expensive like the compressor or something.   My grandfather in law is over to help hubby fix the thresholds in a couple of places in our house.   I have ripped up the carpet in one room, and never put a threshold back on it.   We are used to the look of it, but when we had everyone over to our house for DD b-day party, everyone asked us about it, so

Everything is breaking!

The breaking started yesterday.... The AC went out on us, in the car, on our way, to see hubby's Grandparents 45 min. away.   It was so fun, to sit in the car, not prepared to sweat, and have the windows down, with the air, tangling your air up....   When we got to our destination, I felt and looked horrible.. sweaty /wet back, air a mess, feeling icky, and *beep* at my car.   I would rather the air go out, than be stranded on the road. I was thankul for something. AC is a luxury

Simply Thick

My DD had an swallow evaluation today, and she is now on thickeners for her liquids, nectar consistency, and we were told, that Simply Thick was a good choice. I was wondering if any of you caregivers or survivors, have been pleased with Simply Thick? Thanks, Amy

Question about 1970's and car seats...

Okay guys... The older I get, the more I realize that my parents are cheaters, liars and not as good of people, that I thought, they were. Sad, but I know.. Getting married helped me to see them better. My parents tell us that car seats were not invented, when we were kids, but my husband remembers riding in one?? I don't know who to beleive. I tried to search it online, but got nowhere.Do any of you guys, know? I was born in 1976, brother in 1980, and none of us had carseats. I vivd

I have turned into a CVAPI

Since, my stroke, I have turned into a CVA Private Investigator, scanning large crowds for possible survivors... I have always been a people watcher-big time, now, I am an annoying CVA survivor hunter. I think, I have a young male survivor in our neighborhood. He is very well functional, and I run into him a lot at the local 'walking /bike trail.'   Also, when my daughter took swimming lessons, a grandfather was there, and looked like a survivor as well, with an older stroke. He was very

WE survived!!

It all went well, Hubby was cake and ice cream man, I just walked and served ppl who were sitting. Madeline racked up on the gifts, but it was good, b/c we did a good toy donation before B-day of outgrown toys.   She is busy looking and admiring her loot pile:)   I am going to go and print off the Thank You cards, and have 'em in the mail tom. morning.   If I don't do it now, it won't get done.   Hubby is asleep on couch, my nerve pill really knocked him out.   The weather was pe

B-day stress kicked in..

A friend and her 2 kids just dropped by before party, just in time to make my nerves shot, they let their 1 1/2 r. old destroy decorations etc. Thankfully her Mommy picked it up for me.   Hubby went to go get more food, b/c he thinks there is not enough. That's okay. I am home, waiting for my nerve pill to kick in, I wish we had some liquor I could drink, after all the rugrats go home, we live in a dry county, and the closest is 15 min. away.   It isn't raining yet!!**Good, I can throw

5yrs ago tonight..

5 yrs ago 2night, I was waiting nervously for my scheduled c-section in the a.m.   Where have those 5 yrs gone?   I wish pregnancy hadn't ragged out my body so bad, nothing compared to stroke!   Well, we can't all stay 19 forever, huh?   Being a Mommy is worth it all.   Tonight, hubby and I are going to decorate the kitchen 4 DD birthday. Hubby helped me clean so much today, he unsrewed light fixtures, so I could wash them, now they look so much better. A lot of the p

clutter purging binge

I have gone outta control with purging things from my house. I basically went 2 yrs. not 'keeping my house up' since stroke. Stroke took my don't give a damn about house, and I think my brain rewired itself, b/c I have fallen back into my old habits.   I love it, and so does hubby. I have thrown away some of my school junk, that has been sitting in the garage for 2 yrs.   If I do go back into teaching, I will start my chapter book collection over. I don't want to store them if/until

Date with my MIL

Tonight DAUGHTER AND I HAVE A DATE WITH MY Mil. i LOVE MY MIL, both our hubbies are working tonight, so we are going to watch a movie and grab dinner out.   She is so much fun to be around.   They keep their distance so much, that it is like we live on different planets, not the same town.   I would rather, it be that way, then the opposite:)   It is funny, b/c her biggest fear, is having a stroke, even before my stroke happened.   My stroke almost caused a chain reaction

I am home from the brown recluse resort.

Thank goodness I didn't get bit,or my DD by the spiders.. I did kill a lot though, and sprayed/decluttered our areas we were frequently visiting. It was so nice to come back to my house today, and to be able to sleep w/out fear of BR's. I had some pretty f'ed up dreams there, prob after being paranoid before bed.       My sister and I are secretly 'helping' mom with her clutter problem. I have my car trunk full of Goodwill old stuffed animal of ours as a child. She will not even mis

Mom's bragging..

Does this sound appropriate to you? My mom has been bragging about her good health to me. "A STROKE SURVIVOR FOR GODS SAKE."   She started it off by saying... "Her doctors nurse couldn't believe she wasn't on any RX drugs"   I told mom,"Well you could wake up tom, and be on 13."   My dad has been talking about not wanting to take his RX meds for blood pressure and cholesterol. My 15 yr old attitude chimed in ,"Yeah, me too, I got tired of taking my blood thinners, so I just quit!

More Brown Recluse Spiders...

I killed 2 more Brown Recluse Spiders last night before bath, I used a bathroom that is visited more frequently then the other one. I saw one in the tub, and 1 on the counter top with her babies!!! I wanted to get our S*** and leave last night. Staying here is worse than camping!!! Especially on a survivor. My parents in stalled hand rails for Grandma and I after stroke. My dad did a crappy half A** job putting them up. When I use one hand rail, it falls down, b/c he only put the screw

Brown Recluse Spider

okay.. This is a blog about a prob. my parents have... Their house is full of Brown Recluse Spiders. They breed a house for them.. clutter everywhere... 3,000 + sq. foot house, that only 2 ppl live in, only the bottom floor. They live in a house full of 'em. One climbed out of the bathtub drain, into my bathwater last night. Now, you can see one disabled woman move fast out of the bath water, when a big poison spider is swimming towards you. The last time I visited, 3 huge one fell out o

Laptop ugh

I am going to blog about the computer I am using..laptop.. the keys are too close together.. it is a change, from my usual PC at home.. I am enjoying the fellowship with my sister and her son. I wish I had a picture of my sister's bely to show, she is about to pop a baby out. I got to feel my little nephews hic-ups tonight. I cannot wait to meet him. I was a little nervous going to my nephews B-day party to day.. meeting people for the first time, being a survivor and 'not the typical look

I have an exciting few days ahead for me. My favorite nephew is turning 2 tomorrow, I am going to go see my sister, and attend the B-day party. "Society of Decorative Painters"

I am excited, b/c I am about to start down a new path of recovery, one to retrain my right hand, fine art skills. I have joined a painting group at the church called "Society of Decorative Painters." We will meet later this month. It is really not my old style of painting.. I use to like different original themes, I have participated in a class in the past and it seemed too "unoriginal type of painting..(A stupid idiot- could do it type..) But, I think this is what my right hand needs to go

Dr. Appt.

Mad's physical for Kindergarten went well today, she is in the 75% for height and 50% for weight. She is going to have her daddy's long legs. The Dr. that saw us, is the "talker of the group"   I could feel my brain injured attention span, short circuiting on me..."Zoning out, Amy"   "No, You pretend you are interested!!"" I had this battle going on in my mind, then I couldn't help looking at his bald spot and how he keeps it cut different now, than the last time I saw him. My
